Though officially retired, I am busier than ever with volunteer projects related to my
30+ year career in the museum field. I am the current director of the Latvian Museum, operated under the auspices of the American Latvian Association in Rockville, Maryland.
The museum's focus is Latvian history and culture; its collections ethnographic and historic materials preserved by immigrants to the United States. I, too, am an immigrant;
I arrived in the US with my family when I was nine.
In addition, I serve as the volunteer curator for the Fabius Historical Society in the rural community where I currently live and occasionally consult with archaeological projects
in the region. I am also assisting the Latvians Abroad Museum and Research Center, a migration history museum project established in Latvia in 2008.
My membership in ALMA as a supporter stems from my interest in Latvian-American history and culture and the people who live it. I am not a professional artist but I do
class myself as an amateur photographer, with a special interest in close-up images
of animate and inanimate subjects found in nature.
